It did not rain all summer in Michigan. We bitched and whined and waited for rain, but really...couldn't Mother Nature have picked a better day for the apocalyptic flood???
Oh well.
I really and truly had a wonderful time at Knitterpalooza...despite the torrential downpours, flooding, and (possible) tornadoes...proving it really is the knitters who make the event! Friday night the Knitterbunny rolled into town and crashed here, then Kristi and Dana arrived the next morning. We primed ourselves with mimosas and headed out to The Knitting Room. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures there, but if you ask her nicely, Dana might post her pic of our souvenir Knitting Room beverage bottles.
Next we swam down Old Woodward (oh, you think I'm joking?!?) to Right Off the Sheep...despite being a knitter right down the street for years, I'd never visited this jewel of a shop. They have the largest sale section I've ever seen (it has its own room!)...

"Seriously, this is all ON SALE!"
Along with a million tiny little sweaters and garments decorating the walls...
As a double bonus, Anne the owner donated a gift certificate as a door prize!
Afterwards we swam back up Old Woodward to the parking garage and after I wrung out my Koigu socks (again, you think I'm joking, don't you?!?) we took the Stealth Hybrid (whose tires do turn into flotation devices, luckily) down Woodward to Gifted, the yarn store in Beaumont Hospital. Now, I may be biased since I live right across the street, but if I have to go to a hospital, I wanna go to one with its own yarn store.

The Knitterbunny prowling around!

Dana found some lovely office supplies for work!
And then from there we swam down to ...Have You Any Wool? Now again, I'm biased, but this is definitely my favorite LYS. The owner, Bridget, is absolutely one of the most fabulous friendly people you'd ever want to meet...even giving away some wonderful free gifts to the visiting knitters.
And from there, to downtown Royal Oak to another favorite LYS, Ewe-nique Knits. This shop is wonderful not only because of its awesome owners, but also by virtue of having a whole room dedicated to spinning.

MINE MINE MINE! I SAW IT FIRST!
Finally, much poorer and stinking like wet sheep, we picked up some sushi from Noble Fish and headed over to the park. Now, I'll admit that I was afraid the downpour would deter most knitters, but they ably proved me wrong. I'll probably get my ass kicked for posting some pics of these soaked bedraggled knitters, but trust me, I was probably the most soaked/bedraggled of all!

Jae, of the fabulous Peacock Shawl...

The Luxe Yarn Swap...
Dana, Yours Truly, and Kristi (the latter two in our ghettofabulous Knitterpalooza Staff tees.)
A brand-new knitter, who quite nobly kept up with the shenanigans...
These two are obviously up to no good...
Notice the soaked cuffs. I told you it was apocalyptic!
A stealth shot of Stephanie and her Julip Bag. I am way too shy (STOP LAUGHING!) to go up and ask someone if I can take a pic of them and their bag.

The lovely Amanda, even if she is eating Cheez-Its to freak me out.

Marj, myself, and Amanda with the only Limited Edition bags I have made to date...

Yeah, I'm gorgeous, what can ya do?

And finally, most of the intrepid group that braved the rain!
THANK YOU to all the shop owners, doorprize donors, and waterlogged knitters who made the best of the day, who made it wonderful for all involved! I had a great time and I hope you did too!!!
