Although JP almost fell over in shock when he got home to discover that YES, I DO IN FACT STILL KNIT! I am proud to say I managed to knock out a baby hat for my cousin-in-law whose baby shower was yesterday. There will be matching booties and a sweater too, but my non-knitting wrists (seriously, all I do lately is sew!) gave out on me mid-baby-booty.
The shower was held at Leon and Lulu's in Clawson, MI, and if you live anywhere near here you MUST go check it out! It's partially insanely-expensive furniture store, partially fun kitschy great local shop...they even have a gal zipping around the store on rollerskates offering homemade cookies! And they have unbelievably cool gifty items like "Wasabi Lip Balm" and "Squirrel Underpants" (don't ask). It's just west of 14 Mile/Main in Clawson, on the north side of the street. Despite the prices on some of the stuff, it's very welcoming and the staff was AWESOME.
But back to the hat!
Pattern: Beanie Hat
Source: Natural Knits for Babies and Moms by Louisa Harding
Size: 0-3 months
Yarn: Blue Skys Organic Cotton (from stash)
Needles: US #5 and #7
Notes: Super-quick, super-cute knit, I did stripes as per the pattern. Knitting flat and mattress stitching does result in a seam, but it would be a great beginner pattern for people not super-comfortable with circular knitting.
OK, I MUST know about the squirrel underpants...

Cute!
And I'll pass on the blasted squirrel underpants. Ha ha!

The cap is so cute and so much love knit into each stitch. I can't wait to see the one you make for baby Stevens and of course the booties to match. It looks like my knitting days are about over unless the arthritis in my thumbs moves somewhere else in my body.
