In my last post, I mentioned that I had a Knitting Plan for this weekend. I'm sure some of you are interested to find out if I (of the bronze-medal-finishing-fame) stuck to it. Well, here is your photographic proof. Exhibit A is JP's completed Koigu Florescent Sock #1, along with the cast-on for #2, attached to a deflated pile of leftover yarn from sock #1. The beauty of Koigu is that the lovely random stripes mean I'm not even going to try to match these socks up, so I'll just run through what I have left from the first ball before starting on the second. Oh, and please observe the completed Ugg baby bootie!
I actually would have had two finished booties to show you if I hadn't somehow neglected to knit the last row of the sole, resulting in a complete rip-back of almost half of the bootie. Oh well...this one is so cute, it makes up for it. Such a cute, fast, satisfying knit! My only beef is that it knits up a little large for the ages specified, and that a determined baby could certainly pull it off...I may thread an extra length of yarn through to be tightened around the cuff at Mom's whim. We'll see. I did tweak the colors a bit, but overall I'm pretty impressed with the finished knit. I'll probably complete the second (I told you it was fast!) tomorrow. The pattern is here, should you be smitten.
I did finish the cuff and two pattern repeats of my Dublin Bay socks, but since I somehow forgot to take a picture (I drank a lot of wine today, leave me alone!), please be happy with this picture of the Little Star Sweater! I finally finished seaming it up today, due to knitterly laziness on my part...we all know seaming up is NOT our favorite part of knitting! I will confess that this picture was taken before the left (your right) sleeve was seamed up, but I knew I'd finish it and daylight was fading fast. Details are in the Finished Objects blog (click to your right). Hooray for having such a big WIP off the needles, off the conscience, and ready for delivery!
Finally, I cast on for and completed four rounds (at 300 stitches each!) of the Top Secret Twinsie Project! Now, without giving away too much (Summer does read this blog), this is going to turn into a practice project, because the Blue Sky Organic Cotton I picked out for my wool-allergic friend is shedding like a mofo (that's a technical knitting term). I mean, check out my poor little Measuring Sheep.
And that ain't even the half of it...while casting on I was surrounded by floating clouds of cotton threads, and if it makes ME sneeze, I know it'll knock Summer sideways. So a trip to HYAW on Tuesday is in order. Now, the TSTP is doubly cool because it's a technique I've never tried before...the Magical Moebius! It demands that you take the directions on faith (and a lotta wine) because it doesn't seem to make sense at first AT ALL. But then...the magic of seeing your knitting grow BETWEEN the cables... 'cause you have a super-long circular coiled around itself resulting in...ok, I can't explain it...check out the book if you want to experience the Magic yourself.
I've knit with Blue Sky Organic Cotton before too. I think it is a good choice to go with another yarn...the Organic Cotton just keeps on shedding when you're wearing it, when you wash it, etc.

Yay for all that accomplished knitting. I hope that the finished sock at least keeps JP quiet for a while and he doesn't start on about his hat... Hope that HYAW was fun, and that you're happily knitting away. Miss you!
